Francis married Mary JONES, daughter of Harrison JONES and Ruth ADDISON, on 28 Jun 1782 in , Goochland, Virginia. Mary was born on 23 Nov 1761. She was christened on 14 Feb 1764. She died.

Francis A. HOUCHINS was born in , Goochland, Virginia. He died.

BIOGRAPHY: Francis lived in Goochland county, Virginia in 1821 according to various Louisa County deed book records.  By 1825, he was living in Louisa county, Virginia according to deed book "Q", page 423 dated 9 July 1825: "Francis A. Houchins and Ann, his wife, of Louisa...".  He apparently decided to move west in 1829 according to the following entry in Louisa county deed book "S" on page 133: "I Francis A. Houchins of Louisa County being about to move to the western country appoint William F. Toler my lawful attorney to transact all business I may have left in Virginia.  Recorded Louisa 9 November 1829 and this was the date he swore it was his act."  He may have moved to Kentucky where his sister Elizabeth was already living.
       
Francis married Ann TRICE, daughter of Dabney TRICE, on 3 Oct 1821 in , Louisa, Virginia. Ann died.

Walter J. HOUCHINS was born on 21 Jan 1804. He died in Circleville, Pickaway, Ohio.

BIOGRAPHY: Walter and his wife Lucy lived in Louisa county.  He and his second wife Elizabeth moved from Louisa county to Ross county, Ohio and then later to Circleville, Ohio.
       
Walter married Lucy C. on 17 Dec 1821 in , Goochland, Virginia. Lucy died about 1825 in , Louisa, Virginia.
       
Walter also married Elizabeth S. KENNY on 23 May 1826 in , Louisa, Virginia. Elizabeth was born on 4 May 1806. She died on 22 Sep 1874 in , , Illinois. She was buried in Emden, , Illinois, Bethel Cem.

BIOGRAPHY: Henry and his wife sold their property in Goochland county in 1831 and moved to Kentucky, settling on the Green River.
       
Henry married Clarisa GRAVES on 23 May 1826. Clarisa died.

27. Stephen HOUCHINS (Francis HOUCHINS , Edward HOUCHINS , Edward ) was born on 19 Mar 1769 in , Goochland, Virginia. He was christened on 23 Apr 1769 in , Goochland, Virginia. He died in 1840 in , Louisa, Virginia.

DEATH: Book "History of the Houchin Family in the United States", page 108.

CHILDREN: Book "History of the Houchin Family in the United States" on page 108 states that Stephen and Polly had children John Chiles Houchins (whose descendants are listed) and Mary who is not mentioned further.

Stephen married Polly CHILES on 7 Nov 1810 in , Louisa, Virginia. Polly died.

28. John HOUCHINS (Francis HOUCHINS , Edward HOUCHINS , Edward ) was born on 25 Jan 1772 in , Goochland, Virginia. He was christened on 11 Aug 1772 in , Goochland, Virginia. He died.

CHILDREN: Deposition by John's son Robert Houchins in the settlement of the estate of James Houchins, file drawer H-5 in Logan Co., Ohio Probate Court dated 18 November 1895 states who his parents are and lists his brothers and sisters.  Book "History of the Houchin Family in the United States" by Dr.
Paul C. Houchen of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, October 1931.  See page 161.

MARRIAGE: Book "Marriages of Louisa Co., Virginia" page 54 (John Houchins and Polly Cosby).  Polly may have been a nickname for Mary at the time. Louisa county deed book "P" page 195 dated 13 November 1821 lists the children of Francis Houchins Sr. including "... John Houchins and Mary, his wife". Also, Louisa county deed book "P" page 207 dated 7 December 1821 mentions "Nancy Houchins, wife of Edward; Mary, wife of John, on deed 13 November 1821".

BIOGRAPHY: The book "The History of the Houchin Family of the United States" mentions John only briefly.  On page 96, it states "Joyce continued to live there [her and Francis' farm] with her son, John, and family until her death in 1821".  On page 161 is the main entry for John in the book.  It states "As has been previously stated, he and family lived with his mother Joyce, in her declining years.  He and wife, Mary, raised a family of seven boys and two girls".

John married Mary (Polly) COSBY, daughter of William COSBY, on 9 Mar 1808 in , Louisa, Virginia. Mary was born in , , Virginia. She died.

35. Joyce HOUCHINS (Francis HOUCHINS , Edward HOUCHINS , Edward ) died.

MARRIAGE: Book "Marriages of Louisa County, Virginia" page 43: "15 August 1803 Anderson Graven and Joice Houchins, daughter of Francis Houchings, surety John Houchins, witness Judith W. Smith, married by Reverend Richard Ferguson.  Page 107."

BIRTH: She is mentioned as the daughter of Francis Houchings [sic] in her marriage record.

BIRTH: The book "History of the Houchin Family in the United States" states that she is the daughter of Francis and Joyce Houchins based, apparently, on her marriage record. However, this record merely states that she is the daughter of Francis.  Might she really be the daughter of Francis Jr.?

Joyce married Anderson GRAVEN, son of Thomas GRAVEN, on 15 Aug 1803 in , Louisa, Virginia. Anderson died.

BIRTH: His surname is shown as Graves according to the Houchin history book (page 110).

BIOGRAPHY:   He was a Sergeant during the War of 1812 commanded by Capt. Reubin Chewing, of the Second Regiment Virginia Militia, with brothers John and William privates under his command.
 An excerpt from an 18th Century Virginia newspaper states: "Graven, Anderson, appr. Shoemaker, c. 17, ran away from Job mills, Manchester; he is supposed to be in the neighborhood of John Todd's mill (or Kellie's Tavern) in Louisa Co. as his father lives there."
