				James also married Mary SCRUGS on 1 Jan 1785 in , Goochland, Virginia. Mary died. BIRTH: Her maiden name may have been Scruggs.  Her father was Richard Scrug[g]s.

BIOGRAPHY: There is an extensive biography of Edward in the book "History of the Houchin family in the United States" from page 96 through 98.  It states that he was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, enlisting for a number of periods of service.  He was wounded in the Battle of Camden, South Carolina against British General Cornwallis army.  He was hit in the left arm by a musket ball which never healed properly.  The Virginia General Assembly passed a special enactment on 15 January 1806 providing him with a $300 payment and a $40 annual pension.  In 1832, the Federal Government granted him a $33 monthly pension for life.  This wound prevented him from earning a living from manual labor.  He and his family moved to Louisa county from Goochland county in about 1803.  Then about 1822, they moved to Mercer county, Kentucky where they settled near the town of Harrodsburg.  Edward's sister Nancy moved there with them.
				Edward married Nancy CLEMENTS, daughter of James CLEMENTS and Mary, on 23 Oct 1785 in , Goochland, Virginia. Nancy was born on 13 Mar 1766. She died after 1847 in , Mercer, Kentucky. She was buried in , Mercer, Kentucky, Terhune Cem. BIRTH: Information from Houchin history book, page 98. DEATH: Information from Houchin history book, page 98. MARRIAGE: Louisa County Deed Book P, page 195 dated 13 November 1821 lists the children of Francis which includes "Elizabeth Clements of Garrard County, Kentucky".  Other references are made of her in LDB S, page 123 dated 24 September 1829 "$80 for the interest of Elizabeth Clements in tract left by Francis Houchins, Sr., father of said Elizabeth Clements". BIOGRAPHY: She lived in Garrard County, Kentucky as early as 1821 according to Louisa County deed book "P", page 195 dated 13 November 1821 "... and Elizabeth Clements of Garrard County, Kentucky, to Francis A. Houchins of Goochland County..."

BIOGRAPHY: She and David were living in Campbell county, Virginia in 1820 according to the Houchin history book and Louisa County Deed Book "P", page 195.
				Lucy married David ALVIS on 3 Nov 1792 in , Goochland, Virginia. David died.
	31	M	ix	James Jesse HOUCHINS was born in 1779 in , Goochland, Virginia. He died in 1837 in , , Kentucky. BIRTH: IGI Virginia. MARRIAGE: Book "Marriages of Goochland County, Virginia", page __: 1 January 1802 Jesse Houchins and Susanna Pace, surety James Clements.  Witness Joseph Pace.  Married 2 January by Reverend Richard Pope, page 80. BIOGRAPHY: There is an extensive biography of James Jesse in the book "History of the Houchin Family in the United States" starting on page 110.  It says that Jesse and Susan lived on the Little Byrd [River] in Goochland county where five of their thirteen children were born.  In 1810, they moved west to Kentucky in a wagon train of ten families over the Old Wilderness Road (which was laid out by Daniel Boone in 1775).  They eventually settled near Lawrenceburg, Kentucky where they lived until their death. 				James married Susanna PACE, daughter of Joseph PACE and Mary Ann PAGE, on 2 Jan 1802 in , Goochland, Virginia. Susanna died about 1857 in , , Kentucky. DEATH: Information from Houchin history book, page 110-112.
